COLEMAN INSTITUTE

BRIEF Establish a logo for the Coleman Institute. A San Francisco-based university with a reputation for high-quality science, technology and environmental programs.

GOAL The shape of the logo is based on the Golden Gate Bridge an icon of San Francisco. The illustration is distilled from the bridge’s suspension cables. The color is international orange, the color of paint used for the Bridge. The direction of the logo is intended to communicate a sense of “taking off” like a student’s life as they complete their studies at the university. I used a serif typeface as the primary typeface to communicate a sense of stability and authority for the university. The secondary, sans serif typeface is intended to communicate a sense of modernity and progress.
